Brazil is the country with the highest rate of scientific publication and training of new astronomers and technicians specialized in astronomical instrumentation of the Consortium.
The new agreement is valid until the end of 2027, guaranteeing the Brazilian community access to Gemini's two eight-meter telescopes and the entire infrastructure of its research center for another six years.
The Gemini Observatory is an international consortium formed by Brazil, the USA, Canada, South Korea and Argentina, which operates two eight-meter-diameter super telescopes; one located on the mountain Mauna Kea, Hawaii, and the other on Cerro Pachon, Chile.
