The Brazilian government has distributed seeds for planting in indigenous communities in the states of Paraná and Santa Catarina in southern Brazil. The objective is to guarantee food security and invest in income generation processes, expanding local production.
About 27.5 tons of seeds were delivered to more than 2,500 families of different indigenous ethnicities, 20 tons of corn seeds and 7.5 tons of bean seeds.
Brazil has already invested around R$ 30 million in income generation projects in the villages, aiming at the self-sufficiency of indigenous communities. The funds were allocated to activities such as rural production and fishing, acquisition of agricultural machinery and training courses.
