Over R$40 million have been invested in ethnodevelopment in the last 3 years
Ethnodevelopment and the autonomous economic use of indigenous lands by Brazilian indigenous people as a means of generating higher economic autonomy in the villages has been a priority for the FUNAI, our National Foundation responsible for protecting indigenous people.
In the last 3 years, more than R$40 million have been invested in ethnodevelopment in response to specific needs and demands communicated by indigenous peoples. These investments are used to guarantee food security for different ethnic groups and enable the expansion of production.
In an unprecedented initiative, Funai acquired and delivered 40 tractors to support these productive activities, boosting the income generation processes of several ethnic groups, helping them become increasingly self-sufficient.
Funai has also been investing in sustainable projects aimed at the self-sufficiency of these communities, such as the acquisition of fishing materials, seeds, seedlings, agricultural inputs, tools, agricultural machinery and transportation.
