A new provisional measure seeks to boost nuclear mining by providing greater flexibility to private companies to invest in partnership with Indústrias Nucleares do Brasil - INB (Nuclear Industries of Brazil), the uranium and other heavy metals production state-run company.
Currently, the company operates in the entire production chain: from researching, mining, enriching, UF6 to UO2 converting, to manufacturing the fuel that generates electricity for Brazilian nuclear plants, also trading in nuclear ores and derivatives.
With the new partners, INB is expected to increase investments in modernizing research and mining activities for these ores, thus lowering cost of fuel production. The measure will also contribute to strengthening the socio-environmental regulations.
