Ministry of Economy launches updated version of the Country Program for the Green Climate Fund
Under the Paris Agreement and the UN-FCC, the Green Climate Fund - recognized by 194 countries - was established with the goal of limiting greenhouse gas emissions in developing countries and to helping vulnerable societies adapt to the impacts of climate change.
In Brazil, the Ministry of Economy is the Designated National Authority (DNA) for the Green Climate Fund, and has launched the updated version of the Country Program for the Fund, a document that defines national priorities and presents engagement strategies.
The Program establishes new objectives and criteria for investments in four strategic axes: Agriculture, Forestry and Land Use; Sustainable Infrastructure: Energy & Transport; Sustainable Infrastructure: Industry & Services, and Resilient Cities, Communities and Territories.
The studies for the newly edited document were financed by the Inter-American Development Bank. The Program also appoints the projects that may be financed from 2022 to 2027.
