In a preparatory event for the Ocean Conference, the Brazilian Government highlights the need to promote international cooperation and technology transfer in the area
During the Blue Talk, a preparatory event for the Ocean Conference (UNOC) jointly organized by the embassies of Portugal and Kenya in Brazil, the Brazilian government highlighted actions to preserve coastal ecosystems and eliminate ocean waste.
Brazil presented the new Legal Framework for Basic Sanitation with clear universalization goals and which should bring R$ 700 billion in investments, the Zero Dump program, which has already eliminated 700 dumps in the country, the Reverse Logistics program, for recycling, and the regulation of the National Solid Waste Policy.
It was also highlighted that Brazil already recycles 97% of all its aluminum. During the event, the Minister of the Environment, Joaquim Leite, recalled the approval, by Brazil and 174 other nations, of a resolution to establish a commitment to fight plastic pollution worldwide.
