Despite the coronavirus pandemic, Brazil registered the largest trade surplus in its history in 2021, reaching 61.2 billion US dollars, an increase of 10.8 billion dollars compared to 2020.
Total national trade flow reached a value of US$500 billion, also the largest in the history of Brazil, with an increase of 34.2% in exports and 38.2% in imports in relation to 2020.
Commodities accounted for 67% of exports, showing the strength of Brazilian mineral and agricultural industries. With less than 3% of the world population, Brazil feeds over one billion people globally and is responsible for the food safety of many countries in all continents.
