The Brazilian government has just published the “Atlas of Energy Potential of Solid Waste”, another advance in the Urban Environmental Agenda. The Atlas will assist in the production of electric energy through the reuse of solid waste.
Brazil has also published its “National Solid Waste Plan”, which had been awaiting regulation for 10 years. Having sanctioned the New Solid Waste Framework, solid waste will become a new frontier for green investments.
The Ministries of Mines and Energy and of Environment have carried out the 1st energy auction for solid waste, resulting in over R$500 mill in investments, diversifying the already clean Brazilian energy matrix, in order to meet Brazil’s goal of reducing methane emissions by 30%.
