The Brazilian government brought together experts in epidemiological surveillance from Brazil and six other South American countries to share experiences and establish cooperation on virus surveillance in wild animals native to the continent, including early warnings.
Brazil’s epidemiological surveillance systems, framed in the National Network for the Surveillance of Viruses in Wild Animals, created in 2020, includes eight institutions and about 50 researchers, who work to detect and analyze viruses with the potential to cause harm to humans.
