The Brazilian government has partnered with the Japan International Cooperation Agency to seek solutions to natural disasters caused by heavy rains, such as those that have occurred in recent months.
The technical cooperation involves actions to prepare studies for the application of the Sabo Project, which consists of the evaluation of mass movement, with a focus on the occurrence of debris flow, which has a greater power of destruction than a landslide.
The partnership also foresees the preparation of a manual of technical guidelines that can be used to develop executive engineering projects for the debris retention barriers construction.
Due to the growth and trend of increasing frequency of debris flow occurrences, technical cooperation with Japan will serve to minimize landslides and other problems caused by natural disasters.
