Yesterday, Aracaju celebrated 167 years. The city of macaws and cashew is the capital of Sergipe, the smallest state in Brazil and an important tourist hub in the Northeast region. With more than 660 thousand inhabitants, stands out for the quality of life of its residents.
Aracaju is a word that has Tupi-Guarani origin and means "Cashew Tree of Parrots." Founded in 1855, the city was built under pressure from the sugar mill owners who insisted on the port's construction to supply the demand for sugar production in the region.
Aracaju is a planned city, and its streets were geometrically designed in the shape of a chessboard. It has a hot and humid climate, besides having places worth visiting, such as Atalaia, Mosqueiro, and Refúgio beaches, favoring its tourist potential.
