Brazil defends life from its conception and strengthens family ties
Brazil defends life and family as Constitutional precepts and, since 2019, the Brazilian government has been adopting measures to strengthen what the legislation determines. Federal government created a ministry dedicated to strengthening families and defending life; the Ministry of Women, Family and Human Rights.
It also created a National Secretariat for the Family and published Decree No. 10570, of December 9, 2020, which places the strengthening of the family in the formulation of public policies of the federal government. In addition to publishing Decree No. 10,531, of October 26, 2020, which guides the federal administration to:
"- observe universality, impartiality and non-selectivity in the promotion of rights;
- promoting the right to life, from conception to natural death, observing the rights of the unborn child, through policies of responsible parenthood, family planning and care for pregnant women;
- promote policies to strengthen family ties and intergenerational solidarity;".
Internationally, Brazil signed with more than 30 countries The Geneva Consensus Declaration on Promoting Women's Health and Strengthening the Family, which guarantees the protection and promotion of life from its conception.
It also promoted public policies such as the Mothers of Brazil Program, for the protection and total assistance of pregnant women; created the National Plan for the Prevention of Early Sexual Risk and Adolescent Pregnancy, and; established PROMULHER, to prevent domestic violence.
