Revenue simplifies and speeds up customs clearance of imported medical products
Alcohol gel, antiseptics, masks and other products for personal protection or for hospital use, such as gloves and clothing, purchased abroad for the purpose of fighting Covid-19, will have the customs clearance simplified and streamlined, and may be delivered before the conclusion of the customs conference. This is what determines the Normative Instruction nº 1.927, of March 17, published this Wednesday (18/3) in the Official Journal of the Union.
The measure, which had already been announced, aims to maintain a rapid flow of supply of goods, merchandise and raw materials destined to fight the pandemic, as well as to avoid bottlenecks in the customs facilities by speeding up the delivery of cargo. The planned change in the import procedures will be valid until the end of the Public Health Emergency period of National Importance (Espin) declared by the Ministry of Health.
Another relevant change promoted by the normative instruction is the inclusion of imports promoted by certified importers in the modality Authorized Economic Operator (OEA) in a more simplified rite of import.
This measure aims to mitigate the effects of possible logistic overload by allowing faster customs operations of reliable operators, especially large importers.
The list of products for medical-hospital use that will have simplified clearance is in Annex II of the Normative Instruction No. 1,927.
