The Ministry of Culture (MinC) will attend one of the largest film industry fairs in the world in Los Angeles
The Deputy Minister of Culture of Brazil, Márcio Tavares, and the Secretary for Audiovisual, Joelma Gonzaga, will attend the American Film Market (AFM) in Los Angeles, United States, from October 30th to November 2nd. The AFM is considered one of the largest fairs in the global film industry.
Márcio Tavares emphasizes the strategic importance of the Ministry of Culture of Brazil´s participation in the fair as an opportunity to expand the presence of Brazilian audiovisual content on the global stage. He believes that Brazil's cultural diversity and the variety of content available have the potential to attract international audiences and strengthen the country's image abroad. "Expanding this market can bring economic benefits through job creation and revenue generation. It is essential to invest in policies and partnerships that facilitate the internationalization of our productions, thus ensuring a prominent place for Brazil in the global audiovisual landscape," Márcio advocates.
During the American Film Market (AFM), MinC will host the panel "Brazil's Return to the Big Scene: Film Incentives for Local and Foreign Productions, Perspectives on the Brazilian Film Industry, and Regulations" to discuss various incentive laws for the audiovisual sector in Brazil and the regulatory environment. The goal is to present the business environment of the film industry in Brazil to the AFM audience and promote partnerships and investments.
The Secretary for Audiovisual (SAV), Joelma Gonzaga, will also meet with various Film Commission Presidents from countries such as Uruguay, Italy, Costa Rica, and Spain to discuss the institutionalization of a Film Commission in Brazil. "SAV has been working to strengthen its international audiovisual presence, rebuilding strategic partnerships and aiming to expand the distribution of Brazilian content in different territories. MinC's participation to this event will play an important role in achieving this goal," notes Joelma.
Among the scheduled agendas is the participation of MinC representatives in the Cultural Crossroads Seminar: Exploring Music, Audiovisual, and Entertainment in Brazil and the U.S. The event is organized by the Brazil-California Chamber of Commerce (BCCC) and provides an opportunity to engage with key players in the audiovisual production, entertainment, and music industries interested in partnerships with Brazil. Additionally, visits to production studios, meetings with producers and entrepreneurs interested in investing in Brazilian productions are planned. There will also be meetings with the Brazilian artistic community in Los Angeles.
