The Ministry of Culture (MinC) and the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI) are promoting in Rio de Janeiro, between August 7thand 9th, the International Seminar on Policies for the Creative Economy: G20 + Ibero-America, a parallel event to the meeting of the G20 Culture Working Group, also in the capital of Rio de Janeiro. On the first day, Minister Margareth Menezes will launch the guidelines of Creative Brazil - National Policy for Creative Economy. The seminar will bring together experts from the sector, public authorities, cultural agents and civil society to discuss the role of culture, creativity and the creative economy in the development of contemporary society.
In the evening, Margareth Menezes, accompanied by former Ministers of Culture Gilberto Gil and Ana de Hollanda, will present the guidelines that will support the National Policy of Creative Economy, entitled “Creative Brazil”. The ceremony will have restricted access to the public, due to the capacity of the venue, but will be broadcast on the official channel of the Ministry of Culture on Youtube.
The content to be presented was prepared collaboratively, listening to civil servants and managers of the MinC System and partner ministries and secretaries and directors of states and municipalities. Suggestions were also collected through online public consultation and the proposals resulting from the 4th National Conference on Culture (CNC), held in March this year, were gathered.
The purpose of “Creative Brazil” is to contribute to the recognition and consolidation of the creative economy as a strategy for qualifying the social, economic, environmental, political and cultural development of Brazil.
Debates
During the three days of the seminar, panels will be held focused on the discussion on the role of creativity in generating income, wealth and opportunities, and the challenges faced by the creative economy.
Among the topics will be Creativity: the wealth of nations; Rights of cultural workers; Artificial Intelligence and Copyright, Creative Territories and Ecosystems; and Cultural Biodiversity and Technodiversity.
"OEI has been developing several actions of great impact on the Creative Economy in Brazil, such as the creation of the Co.liga virtual school, with about 60 thousand young people enrolled, and the Creative Industries Market of Brazil (MICBR). Our goal is for culture to have an increasing presence in the GDP of the economies of Latin America and the Caribbean, something that currently varies between 2% and 4%.." This international seminar is an important opportunity to understand what countries have been doing in the Ibero-American region," said Rodrigo Rossi, coordinator of Technical Cooperation of the Organization.
The International Seminar on Policies for the Creative Economy: G20 + Ibero-America is held by the Ministry of Culture of Brazil and the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI).
