Emergency Program for the Prevention and Combat of Disasters Related to Climate Changes, Catasthopes and Environmental Accidents
Objective
The Emergency Program for Prevention and Response to Disasters Related to Climate Emergencies, Extreme Events, and Environmental Accidents aims to support research projects with the goal of developing highly qualified human resources through academic-scientific investigation within the scope of stricto sensu Postgraduate Programs that have research lines aligned with the program's focus area.
The program is structurally organized into two permanent dimensions: 1) induced emergency strategic actions in specific areas and 2) awards for theses aligned with prioritized themes to be defined in calls for proposals.
The Induced Emergency Strategic Actions in specific areas involve the publication of calls for proposals that will define prioritized themes for academic-scientific investigation, as well as the rules for project submission by faculty members affiliated with stricto sensu postgraduate programs.
Specific Objectives
a) Promote knowledge exchange between the academic community and the government, encouraging the development of high-level human resources through studies addressing prevention, mitigation, and response to emergency situations, applied to the local and regional realities of the federal units affected by accidents;
b) Stimulate initiatives in related thematic areas, fostering the development of sustainable products, processes, services, and systems that contribute to solving direct and indirect problems generated by Climate Emergencies, Extreme Events, and Environmental Accidents;
c) Encourage academic-scientific dissemination and technology transfer, supporting the generation of educational materials addressing aspects of prevention, mitigation, and response to Extreme Events, Environmental Accidents, and Climate Emergencies;
d) Contribute to the strengthening of stricto sensu Postgraduate Programs in the country, with an interdisciplinary focus on prioritized themes to be defined in calls for proposals.
Further information can be found on the calls for proposals page.
