Eligibility

Requirements and Conditions

• Hold Brazilian nationality. In the case of a foreigner, be a resident in Brazil with a permanent visa.
• Be a certified teacher and have completed the probationary period, and be teaching, at the time of registration and until the implementation of the scholarship, English classes in the federal, state, municipal, or district public education network.
• Not be on leave from classroom teaching activities at the time of registration and until the implementation of the scholarship.
• Take the TOEFL ITP English proficiency test.
• Not receive or have received a scholarship or financial benefit from other Brazilian and/or American entities for purposes like this call.
• Not have participated in previous editions of the Professional Development Program for English Language Teachers in the USA (PDPI/CAPL/Certificate), Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program in the USA (FLTA), or Teaching English as a Foreign Language (IOE); Professional Development Program for Basic Education Teachers in Canada, Professional Development Program for Basic Education Professionals in Ireland, or the SETEC-CAPES/NOVA Program.
• Have a curriculum registered on the Freire Platform, available at https://freire.capes.gov.br/.

Obtaining a passport in a timely manner for program participation, with a validity period until at least December 31, 2024, is the sole responsibility of the candidate.
