The antitrust authorities from Paraguay, Uruguay, Brazil, and Argentina have officially launched the MERCOSUR Competition Yearbook of 2024 during the Latin American and Caribbean Competition Forum (LACCF), held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
The Competition Yearbook is the result of a concerted effort by the MERCOSUR competition authorities aiming to foster mutual communication and cooperation among the trading bloc countries and other agents, including economic agents, scholars, and civil society.
The document is a reference for the Competition Law of MERCOSUR and each member state, promoting the trading bloc competitive participation worldwide, fostering debates, exchanging ideas, and producing specialised literature.
Among the contributions, some articles written by CADE's collaborators stand out. "Os Principais Casos de Concentração e de Conduta Analisados pelo Cade em 2023” discusses the Brazilian antitrust authorities’ challenges regarding merger reviews and suppression of antitrust violations. It was written by Alexandre Barreto de Souza, the Superintendent-General of CADE, and advisor Tatiane Oliveira Negreiros. Also, the paper “Advocacy no Cade: Exemplos Práticos da Experiência Brasileira”, written by Chief Economist Lílian Santos Marques Severino, Gerson Carvalho Bênia, and Camila Sanson, showing an analysis of CADE’s recent advocacy initiatives.Access the Mercosur Competition Yearbook of 2024 for updates on developments and challenges in competition defence in South America!
