New president of CADE takes office
The new President of the Administrative Council for Economic Defense – CADE, Alexandre Barreto de Souza, was empowered by the Minister of Justice and Public Safety, Torquato Jardim, on Thursday (22/06). The term of office was signed at the Palace of Justice, in Brasília.
Barreto de Souza holds a Master in Management and is a public servant of the Court of Accounts (TCU in its acronym in Portuguese), where he worked as Chief of Staff of Minister Bruno Dantas. He is also a federal external auditor and has been director of the areas responsible for the control over bids, contracts in all the public administration and for the inspection of the state financial institutions in TCU.
The new president had his name approved by the Senate after a hearing in the Commission of Economic Affairs on 13 June. The senators also confirmed the appointment of Maurício Oscar Bandeira Maia as a Commissioner at CADE.
