New commissioners of CADE take office
In December 2023, the Brazilian President appointed the new members of the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE), who have taken office and are now part of the Tribunal of CADE.
Carlos Jacques, Camila Pires Alves, Diogo Thomson, and José Levi are the four new commissioners. Therefore, CADE has a full quorum and is able to deliberate on administrative proceedings, mergers, cease and desist agreements, among others.
The Tribunal of CADE is composed by the president and six commissioners. All of them are appointed to unrenewable four-year terms. The commissioners' assignments include votes on administrative proceedings and other matters submitted to CADE; issue orders and judgements in proceedings in which they act as the rapporteur; impose preventive measures and establish daily fines for non-compliance; notify interested parties of their decisions; among others.
The first hearing of the year with a full quorum is to be held on 07 February 2024. There will be ten fortnightly sessions up to June. The live streaming is available on CADE’s official YouTube channel.
