Journal of Competition Defense earns classification B2 from Qualis
Issued by the Administrative Council for Economic Defense – CADE, the Journal of Competition Defense has earned the classification “B2” on the Legal Studies scope of Qualis. The result was published this week. The journal was previously classified in the “C” layer.
Qualis is used by the Coordination for Higher Education Staff Development (CAPES in its Portuguese acronym) to measure the quality of scientific journals which usually publish academic scientific reviews researches developed in Brazil. The basic premise of the evaluation system is that only the journals that have already been published by lecturers or students of the National Post-Graduation System (SNPG in its Portuguese acronym) are classified under the system.
Qualis is updated regularly - generally every 2 years – and classifies the journals in the quality levels A1, A2, B1, B2, B3, B4, B5 and C. A1 is the most elevated concept. Considering the existence of 2.200 journals in the Qualis’ Law web platform, the results earned by CADE puts the Journal of Competition Defense among the top 10% Brazilian periodicals in Legal Studies. Only 272 Legal Studies’ journals – including Brazilian and Foreign journals – are classified on the A1, A2, B1, B2 layers of Qualis.
CAPES is an agency of the Brazilian Ministry of Education and the main institution that qualifies the academic periodicals in the country.
