Four new commissioners of CADE are appointed
On 27 December 2023, Camila Cabral Pires Alves, Carlos Jacques Vieira Gomes, Diogo Thomson de Andrade, and José Levi Mello do Amaral Júnior were appointed as the four new commissioners of CADE.
The President of Brazil signed the decrees with the appointments of the new commissioners.

Camila Cabral Pires Alves was CADE’s chief-economist in 2013. She holds a master’s degree and a PhD in Economics from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (2010) and is an associate professor at the Institute of Economics of the university.
Carlos Jacques Vieira Gomes is a consultant on economic law matters to the Senate. He is an expert in competition law and participated in the drafting of the current law of CADE.
Diogo Thomson de Andrade is a federal prosecutor. He has worked at CADE since 2007, as chief prosecutor of the Consulting Office of the Attorney General at CADE (PFE). Since 2012, Mr. Thomson has worked as assistant Superintendent of CADE.
José Levi Mello do Amaral Júnior has been a Counsel for the National Treasury of Brazil since 2000, and he was a public prosecutor from 2019 to 2020. He is also an associate professor of Constitutional Law at the Law School of the University of São Paulo (USP).
The Tribunal of CADE is composed by a president and six commissioners. All of them are appointed to unrenewable four-year terms.
