CADE’s study reviews literature on conduct parameters and market power measurement
On 4 April, the Department of Economic Studies of the Administrative Council for Economic Defense published the working document titled "Análise bibliográfica sobre a mensuração do poder de mercado e parâmetro de conduta dos agentes".
The document written by Tanise Brandão Bussmann—a civil servant at the Office of the Superintendent General of the authority—gives a systematic literature review about conduct parameters and the measurement of market power, according to research on the databases of the platforms Web of Science and Scopus. As a result, the study analysed 87 papers.
The review of papers happened through a specific software that contributed to a graphic visualisation of the results. In addition, the studies were categorised into those that delve into theory, apply it to practice, or use a model.
CADE’s study has four sections. Its introduction presents the methodology followed by a graphic illustration of the results of the 87 selected papers.
Subsequently, the document presents the review results dividing it into three subsections: the first one regards theoretical developments, the second one shows the theory and its application into practice, and the last one shows applied models only. Lastly, it presents the conclusions.
The document is available in Portuguese only here.
