The activities of the Administrative Council for Economic Defense - CADE 37º Exchange Program – (PinCade) has been started on 16 January. This edition, which will be held until 3 February, has the participation of 20 students – 16 from undergraduation and 4 from graduation programs, from the five Brazil’s regions.
During the three weeks’ program, the participants will have theoretical and practical activities about competition defense. Among those, the students will have guided tours to other government bodies and institutions related to the antitrust policy.
The students will also attend to the Competition Defense Applied Course – with training lectures given by CADE’s staff, professors and public officials. The objective of the program is to introduce the work performed by the agency, its structure and mainly procedures. They will learn, among other subjects, about the mechanisms for the control of anticompetitive conducts, the merger analysis process and the international cooperation in the competition defense area.
In addition, the students will experience CADE’s work routine by working in the units that form the competition authority, such as the General Superintendence, the commissioner’s offices and the Department of Economic Studies. They will perform usual activities of each sector.
At the end of the program, the students will have to produce an academic paper on a theme which will be defined during the realization of the activities.
The PinCade aims to promote the dialogue between the academia and Brazilian government bodies related to competition defense. The exchange program is a way to encourage the academic production on this field and to contribute to the attendees education. Held since 1999, the PinCade has already the participation of around 400 students.
