CADE signs agreement in cartel investigation
On 20 March, the Tribunal of CADE signed a cease and desist agreement with Eric Purks for alleged cartel in the market for maritime transport services for roll-on/roll-off cargo.
Roll-on/roll-off are ships with built-in ramps to load and unload wheeled cargo. These loads are transported either on wheels (cars, buses, trucks, tractors, etc.) or on vehicles (trailers, flatbeds, etc.).
According to the agreement, the signatory must provide evidence to the investigation. In addition, the financial contribution to the Fund for De Facto Joint Rights amounts to BRL 96,787.50.
CADE launched the administrative proceeding in February 2016 to investigate the alleged anticompetitive conduct. In its analysis, CADE found evidence of collusion to allocate customers, preserve the position established for the companies with their main customer, maintain or increase prices, including a concerted refusal to deal with customers that solicited lower prices.
