CADE releases new edition of Revista de Defesa da Concorrência
The Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) published the first edition of 2024 of the legal journal Revista de Defesa da Concorrência (RDC). CADE’s biannual publication aims to expand the literature on competition law. It is classified A3 on the Qualis system of CAPES (a body linked to the Brazilian Ministry of Education) and is considered one of the best legal journals in Brazil.
Overall, the 1st edition of the 12th volume of the journal features 10 articles. One of the papers is a case study on the Brazilian retail market based on recent literature regarding entry barriers promoted by data driven activities. The journal also features researches on screening methodologies for cartel detection in Brazil and worldwide (Article 2); the complex role of innovation on competition law, focusing on additional challenges from digital markets (Article 5); mergers & acquisitions in the financial sector and their consequences (Article 6); labour market considerations in mergers & acquisitions reported to CADE (Article 9); among others.
In the latest edition, the journal has a renewed editorial team, headed by CADE’s Commissioner Victor Oliveira Fernandes as editor-in-chief. Mr Fernandes is a Professor of Economic and Competition Law at the Brazilian Institute of Education, Development and Research (IDP). He has an extensive academic background and is the author of the books "Direito da Concorrência das Plataformas Digitais”, on competition law regarding digital platforms (Revista dos Tribunais, 2022), and "Regulação de Serviços de Internet”, on the regulation of internet services (Lumen Juris, 2018). He states that contributing to the RDC once again brings him joy and pride.
“I used to work at the RDC when Commissioner Paulo Burnier was the editor-in-chief, and I am pleased to contribute to this project that I deeply care about once again. In the past few years I have been following the development of the journal and I look forward to contributing to its continued progress in the coming years”, he said.
