CADE releases new edition of its Revista de Defesa da Concorrência with a new design
The Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) has released this Wednesday (9 December) a new edition of the Revista de Defesa da Concorrência, CADE’s journal dedicated to the defence of competition. The 16th edition is the last issue of the academic journal for 2020, and it shows a new visual identity, designed by a specialized consultancy that gave a modern design to the journal.
Besides the visual change, another innovation in this edition is that the number of referees has increased. After intense public call, the number of professionals evaluating the articles during this second semester tripled in comparison to the same period in 2019.
The journal is published twice a year by CADE, and it aims to contribute to foster knowledge on competition issues, within the antitrust literature.
This edition articles
Nine articles on several matters related to competition issues are presented in this edition. The subjects are relevant and recent, for instance, the pandemic and the exceptions in the competition law for collaboration among competitors; the personal data protection according to the competition law, discussing data portability, essential infrastructure and open banking. New technologies and competition are subject to one of the papers that analysis the case involving Claro, Topsports and Fox.
The paper about agreements in competition law sets a comparative overview of the four types of agreements foreseen by CADE. The issue also presents an article on merger and acquisitions and cartels in the most protected sectors by anti-dumping measures, and another article concerning public interest considerations on merger control.
One of the other articles discusses sanctions for anticompetitive practices of individuals through alternative mechanisms; another shows CADE's case law on the abuse of dominant position; another on the analysis parameters for a hub-and-spoke cartel in the Brazilian law.
The articles are written by experts in the field and selected by the journal's referees. Papers can be submitted to the journal throughout the year.
