CADE releases English version of its Statutes
The Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) has released, this March, an English version of its Statutes. The document is available for access by the whole international antitrust community on the website of the agency.
The initiative aims to broaden international access to the documents that guide the performance of the Brazilian antitrust authority. Another document recently released in English was the Guide for Horizontal Merger Review.
According to Carolina Araújo de Andrade, Head of the International Unit of CADE, this shall be a common practice considering CADE's growth in the international stage, which also results in invitations to share experiences with other antitrust authorities.
"This prominent position we have accomplished throughout the years turns the international eyes onto us. And that is where derives our need to expand our institutional communication, which means facilitating access to our documents, regulations and guides by translating those to English," she explains.
The Statutes of CADE present the nature and jurisdiction of CADE, the bodies that comprise the antitrust agency, stating in detail their roles and their managers' roles. The Statutes also provides the procedures adopted by CADE on several occasions, such as during the course of the proceedings and the hearings.
Access the page of the Statutes of CADE to have access to both Portuguese and English versions.
