CADE releases Brazilian Competition Journal
The Administrative Council for Economic Defense – CADE - launched the first edition of the Brazilian Competition Journal which be published biannually in an electronic format. The aim of the publication is to contribute to the promotion of academic studies on antitrust and disseminate knowledge about the topic. The journal inaugural issue brings a total of 9 articles distributed in 3 sections: current affairs, legal doctrine and economic doctrine. Some of the topics covered are tying sales, patent pools, payment cards and international cooperation.
CADE started editing a regular on antitrust policy as early as 1975 with the launching of the Journal of Economic Law. In 2004, the magazine was named "Journal of Competition Law" and now, "Brazilian Competition Journal". In total, there were more than 50 publications.
In a new editorial contour, the journal articles will address the competition defense issues in various optics - Law, Economics, International Relations, etc. The texts may be shaped as doctrinal studies or reviews of jurisprudence.

Article Submission - Articles for the second edition of the journal should be submitted in Portuguese, English, French or Spanish exclusively by electronic means, until July 31, 2013 at www.cade.gov.br. The texts will be evaluated in advance by the editorial staff that checks the compatibility of the proposed content of the publication, as well as adapts formatting standards of the work. Those who do not comply with the rules will be returned to the authors with the possibility of presentation in future editions.
The texts accepted in the first stage will be evaluated by specialized consultants. Those professionals will decide on the acceptance, with or without reservations, or on the rejection of the article. Both the submission process and the evaluation of the work are done electronically without author identification (blind review).
The criteria to be observed by the consultants are: contribution to scientific knowledge, consistency of results presented and innovative nature of the work. The work must be unpublished and may not be under submission to other publications. In addition, authors should follow the formatting and methodological guidelines available on the website.
