CADE pays homages to competition representatives
On 17 April, before the hearing session, the Tribunal of the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) paid homage to the former president of the French Competition Authority and the current commissioner of the Council of State of France, Isabelle de Silva. The tribute recognised her contribution to CADE’s performance on the international stage. The Tribunal also paid tribute to CADE’s former attorney general, Juliana Domingues, whose term of office ended on 12 April. Benedito Gonçalves, Minister of the Superior Court of Justice in Brazil (STJ), also attended the hearing.
Isabelle de Silva was the first guest to be honoured. Alexandre Cordeiro, President of CADE, conducted the ceremony. “Under her efficient performance, the French Competition Authority enforced competition regulation diligently and dynamically, for the benefit of consumers and the highest economic and social welfare of that country”, he stated.
Members of the Tribunal, representatives of the Brazilian Institute for the Study of Competition, Consumption and International Trade (IBRAC) and antitrust attorneys paid tribute to Juliana Domingues on her farewell. During her speech, she thanked for the time she worked for the Brazilian authority and also for the support she received from her family and workmates throughout her career. “Not only does CADE ensure competition for the market, but it also changes lives. It has changed my life”, she affirmed.
