CADE was honoured in the “XVI Encontro de Gestores da Rede-Lab”, a meeting of the Brazilian network of technology laboratories against money laundering, which was held from 18 to 20 September 2024. The event was organised by the Ministry of Justice to celebrate the 10th anniversaryof the “Rede Nacional de Laboratórios de Tecnologia Contra Lavagem de Dinheiro” (Rede-Lab), the Brazilian network of technology laboratories against money laundering.
The Brazilian antitrust authority received a merit certificate and a medal from Rede-Lab for its performance, highlighting CADE’s fight against money laundering and the development of Reden, which is coordinated by the Department of Asset Recovery and International Legal Cooperation (DRCI) of the Brazilian Ministry of Justice.
The event aimed to exchange experiences among the laboratories, the standardisation of methodologies of analysis of huge volumes of data, and the expansion of the integration amongst the institutions involved. These efforts strengthen the prevention and repression of corruption and money laundering.
CADE is part of Rede-Lab since 2015, after signing a Technical Cooperation Agreement with the Brazilian Ministry of Justice. Since then, the authority has been using advanced tools and methodologies to analyse data, intensifying the fight against cartels and other economic violations.
Rede-Lab
Rede-Lab are specialised units for data processing to fight money laundering. They originated from the Brazilian strategy to fight corruption and money laundering (ENCCLA), which predicted the need for a model laboratory to apply solutions and spread studies on hardware and software best practices, and professional profile suitability.
