CADE is awarded the best antitrust agency in the Americas
After being mentioned as one of the most efficient antitrust authorities in the world during the World Economic Forum, in Davos, last January, the Administrative Council for Economic Defense – CADE won two important international awards on 28 March, in Washington, D.C.
Global Competition Review – GCR, a British magazine focused on competition defense, awarded the Brazilian authority as the best antitrust authority in the Americas. This is the third time that GCR distinguishes CADE as the best antitrust authority in the Americas. The authority also received this prize in 2011 and 2015.
The Concurrences 2016 Antitrust Writing Awards has also granted CADE’s Guidelines on Cease and Desist Agreement for cartel cases (TCC in its acronym in Portuguese) the prize of Most Innovative Soft Law related to concerted practices.
The result of both prizes was announced during the ABA Antitrust Spring Meeting in Washington.
CADE was represented in the event by its Acting President, Gilvandro Araújo, and its General Superintendent, Eduardo Frade. Several Brazilian lawyers and the Representative of the Federal Prosecution Service to CADE, Márcio Barra Lima, were also present and celebrated the awards.
According to Mr. Araújo, these prizes acknowledge the work developed by CADE’s team. “These awards belong to CADE’s technical staff and to the Brazilian antitrust community”, highlighted the Acting President.
