On 9 April, the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) fined Renauto Veículos e Peças Ltda and Navesa Nacional de Veículos Ltda for gun jumping.
Completed in March 2025, the transaction involved the transfer of Renauto’s tangible and intangible assets -- such as parts, tools, machinery, equipment, furniture, fixtures, and installations -- to Nevasa, as part of operating Renault do Brasil S.A. dealerships in Goiânia (GO).
In 2020, the Office of the Superintendent General at CADE launched an administrative proceeding, which concluded in a technical opinion that only the transaction between Renauto and Navesa required mandatory notification. In August 2023, the Tribunal of CADE determined the pre-merger notification.
Upon reassignment to Camila Pires Alves, rapporteur of the case, CADE confirmed that no notification had been submitted, despite the Tribunal’s earlier decision. Parties filed the pre-merger notification form in November 2024, and it was concluded only in February 2025.
The Tribunal of CADE decided unanimously to follow the vote of the rapporteur of the case and convicted the defendants for gun jumping, imposing a fine of BRL 5,36,560.00.
