CADE approves agreement with Brazilian Association of High Complexity Private Hospitals of the State of Goiás
On 05 June, the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) unanimously approved the cease and desist agreement signed with the Brazilian Association of High Complexity Private Hospitals of the State of Goiás (Ahpaceg).
The agreement was signed in the scope of an administrative investigation into claims that Ahpaceg committed the alleged antitrust violation. The association comprises 34 large-scale hospitals, of which 30 are service providers from Unimed Goiânia.
According to the administrative enquiry, Ahpaceg negotiated price lists charged by hospitals and health insurance companies, in addition to promoting the negotiation of collective price rises and collective boycotts, in case of changes that Unimed Goiânia could propose.
After signing a cease and desist agreement with CADE, the association committed to pay BRL 115,000 as a financial contribution, and to cooperate with the pending investigations of the antitrust authority. The administrative proceedings are adjourned due to the referred signature, and they are to be dismissed as soon as CADE certifies the compliance with all the obligations provided for in the document.
