CADE Approves 2017- 2020 Strategic Plan
During the judgment session on Wednesday (13/06), Alexandre Barreto, the president of the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE), presented to the members of the Administrative Tribunal the authority’s strategic plan with the goals to be achieved until 2020.
The Strategic Plan is the outcome of a series of meetings that occurred since the beginning of 2017 and presents the advances that Cade intends to accomplish in the next years to improve competition policy defense in Brazil. It states goals that have been already reached by the agency and the need to maintain them during the next term. Authorities and experts of various departments of Cade attended the meetings.
“It was a very democratic and inclusive work, that involved all the staff and the authorities of CADE in the discussion of our objectives and our goals”, stated the president. Mr. Barreto has highlighted that, in total, 11 strategic objectives were established.
One of the projects to be implemented in the period of the plan is the website specialized on competition indicators that shall be used as a tool to the market monitoring. With respect to the advances already accomplished by the agency, one example is the progress of Cade’s Policy Agreements, composed by Leniency Agreements and Cease and Desist Agreements (TCC in its acronym in Portuguese), that increased the investigative capacity of the agency, as well as the capacity for cessation of anticompetitive practices by economic agents through the agreements.
Developed on the basis of the Balanced Scorecard methodology, the plan gathers CADE’s strategic objectives aligned to indicators, goals and specific projects to each one of them.
