CADE and OECD to hold kick-off event for Competition Assessment Project in sectors of ports and civil aviation
The Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) are staging this Thursday (8 April) a webinar to launch in Brazil the Competition Assessment Project in the Sectors of Ports and Civil Aviation. The on-line event will take place from 10.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. (Brasília time).
This project is aimed at analysing existing public policies in the sectors to identify potentially unnecessary competition restraints and propose alternative policies to benefit their competitive environment. The initiative seeks to contribute to Brazil's economic recovery.
The event is open to the public and will be held on-line, via Zoom.

Agenda
The kick-off event brings together representatives from a number of ports and civil aviation authorities to discuss the importance of competition and regulatory fitness in assisting these sectors' growth.
To initiate the debate, CADE's President Alexandre Barreto and OECD's Deputy Director of the Directorate for Financial and Enterprise Affairs António Gomes open the event. Following, Brazil's relationship with the OECD is addressed by Ambassador Carlos Márcio Cozendey, Delegate to International Economic Organisations in Paris, and Mr. Marcelo Barros Gomes, Special Secretary for Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of Government Affairs (the Casa Civil, in Portuguese).
Next, CADE's Deputy Superintendent, Patrícia Sakowski moderates a panel discussion with an overview of the sectors and their economic impact. The panellists are Juliano Alcântara Noman, Director-President of the Brazilian Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC); Ronei Saggioro Gianzmann, the Brazilian Secretary for Civil Aviation; Eduardo Nery, Director-General of the Brazilian Waterway Transportation Agency (ANTAQ); and Diogo Piloni e Silva, the Brazilian Secretary for Ports and Waterway Transportation.
After that, Ania Thiemann, competition expert and project manager at the OECD, will speak on the organisation's competition assessment, with a focus on methodology and a summary of the project, which is currently being implemented. Subsequently, CADE's Deputy Chief Economist Lílian Marques presents the benefits expected from this initiative. Finally, after a Q&A session, the event will be closed by Mr. Alexandre Cordeiro, General Superintendent at CADE.
