CADE and ESMPU promote an international seminar on regulation and competition
The Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) and the school of the Brazilian Federal Prosecution Services (ESMPU) are to hold the 2023 International Seminar on Regulation and Competition. The event is to happen on 13 and 14 November and features representatives of public bodies and private institutions to discuss regulation and competition defence. The seminar is the result of a partnership with the University of Brasilia (UnB) and the Brazilian Association of Law and Economics (ABDE).
The opening session will be held in the headquarters of the ESMPU. Alexandre Cordeiro, president of CADE, Antônio Augusto Aras, former prosecutor general of Brazil, and Lafayete Petter, appellate prosecutor of Brazil, will take part in the event.
There will be three panels discussing topics, such as regulation in Brazil and the aims of competition defence. Representatives of the regulatory agencies and other institutions are to take part in the meeting. Lílian Marques, chief economist of the Department of Economic Studies of CADE, Victor Oliveira Fernandes, commissioner, and Ricardo Medeiros de Castro, deputy head of the Technical Advisory Unit of the Office of the President of CADE, are some of the participants.
The meeting will be held at the headquarters of CADE on 14 November. Waldir Alves, representative of the Prosecution Services at CADE, Fernanda Machado and Diogo Thomson, assistant superintendents, Gustavo Augusto, commissioner, Raquel Mazzuco, coordinator general of Antitrust Analysis, and Márcio Schusterschitz, attorney general of Brazil, are taking part in the panels of the event on this date. The analysis of the regulatory impact at CADE, the parliament, and the regulatory agencies are some of the topics in the agenda.
Alexandre Barreto, superintendent general at CADE, Krisztian Katona, vice-president of Global Competition and Regulatory Policy at the Computer & Communications Industry Association (CCIA), and Roberto de Castro Pimenta, representative of the University of Brasilia (UnB), are taking part in the closing session of the event.
The event will be broadcast live on CADE’s and ESMPU’s YouTube channels.
