CADE adheres to the ICN Framework on Competition Agency Procedures
In Wednesday 8th, the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE in its acronym in Portuguese) joined the Framework on Competition Agency Procedures (CAP) of the International Competition Network (ICN). The Framework combines substantive principles to the implementation of effective procedures by competition authorities around the world.
CAP membership promotes enforcement cooperation between competition authorities, who can engage in dialogue to understand the different processes of each participant. Moreover, the document includes important provisions on transparency, in order to encourage the members to make publicly available its procedural rules.
For CADE’s President, Alexandre Barreto, the adhesion to the Framework is another important step to stimulate the exchange of experiences. “As the authority responsible for competition law enforcement in Brazil, CADE is aware of international best practices and constantly aims to improve its procedures”, he said.
