Community of Lusophone Aviation Authorities (CAACL)
The Community of Lusophone Civil Aviation Authorities (CAACL) has the mission of promoting institutional cooperation among the Civil Aviation Authorities of Portuguese-speaking countries through decisions harmonization and information exchange, cooperation services and technical assistance and training, reinforcing the role of member countries at international instances of the sector. Currently, the Community has nine countries represented: Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe and East Timor.
The Community aims to strengthen ties of friendship and promote institutional cooperation among the signatory countries, assuming the nature of a discussion forum, with views to stimulate cooperation between the Parties on matters relating to civil aviation. In addition, it establishes that the countries meet ordinarily once a year to discuss issues of common interest and define possible joint action plans.
The history of CAACL
The CAACL was created on July 17th, 2007, during a meeting in Lisbon (Portugal), attended by Civil Aviation Authorities of Angola, Brazil (represented by ANAC), Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, Sao Tomé and Príncipe, and East Timor. On November 2nd, 2007, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed making official the creation of the referred Community.
