Aircraft Mechanic
In order to become an aircraft mechanic, it is necessary to successfully complete a course approved by ANAC, within one of the type ratings (GMP, CEL or AVI), in an entity (school) also certified by ANAC. The approximate duration of the course will be 13 months for each qualification.
As an Aircraft Mechanic, there are three possible specializations to get a type rating:
- GMP (Power plant) - With this type rating the interested party will be able to work with all types of general aviation engines (conventional or reaction), all propeller and rotor systems and all power plant systems.
- CEL (Airframe) - This is the type rating that works with all pressurization systems, air conditioning, pneumatic and hydraulic systems. It is also in this qualification that the interested person can work in the structure of airplanes and helicopters in general, in other words, the fuselage of the aircraft.
- AVI (Avionics) - This allows the interested party to work on all electrical and electronic components of aircraft, including navigation instruments, radio navigation and radio communication, electrical and radar systems.
- Basic Requirements for the license (paragraph 65.71 of the RBAC 65 - in Portuguese only). The person must
- Be at least 18 years old
- Hold a high school certificate
- Have been completed, successfully, a certified course by ANAC
- Have been approved in the ANAC theoretical test
To enroll in the Aeronautical Maintenance Mechanic course it is necessary to:
- Be at least 18 years old, to be completed by the end of the course.
- Hold a high school certificate

Attention! Accreditation of Professional to perform practical examination of Mechanic of Aeronautical Maintenance (MMA): Items 5.2.2 and 5.2.5 of IS 183-003 (in Portuguese only) establish the mandatory presentation of proof of completion of ANAC training. However, such training will only be required when it is made available on ANAC's website.
