ANAC promotes webinars on new Operational Suitability Data (OSD) rules
The Brazilian National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) approved amendments to Brazilian Civil Aviation Regulations (RBAC) No. 01, 21, 61, and 90 in April this year related to Type Design Data with Relevant Effects to the Operational Context, a topic on the Agency's Regulatory Agenda. To explain these changes, two webinars will be held on May 20th.
With the new rules, the Master Minimum Equipment List (MMEL) and the result of aircraft operational evaluation activities have become part of the Type Certificate, under the nomenclature Operational Suitability Data (OSD). The term is already employed by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), although there are differences between the Brazilian and European models.
The topic was the subject of Public Consultation No. 3/2023, which received 31 contributions and resulted in significant changes to the model initially proposed by ANAC. The amendments to RBAC No. 01, 21, 61, and 90 will enter into force on January 2nd, 2025. Until then, Supplementary Instructions (IS) will be published detailing the application and means of compliance with the affected requirements.
The Contribution Analysis Report of the Public Consultation and the final Comparative Chart, justifying each new or changed requirement, are available in English through links below (Click to access):
