ANAC participates in ICAO Dangerous Goods Panel meeting in Rio
The National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) attended the meeting of the Dangerous Goods Panel (DGP) of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The meeting, held in the city of Rio de Janeiro between May 8 and 19, discussed studies by authorities and experts from international civil aviation regarding the air transport of dangerous goods and established policies for the safe handling of these objects in the sector.
At the event, that happens every two years, the Agency also participated in the Working Groups (WG) that assess and update the provisions that regulate the transport of dangerous goods, whose regulations may vary from country to country. In these activities, ANAC representatives were able to contribute to the improvement of safety protocols and the organization of future panel activities.
The conclusions and discussions at the meeting are also reflected in the national regulations on the subject since the main international regulations in force on dangerous goods also serve as a basis for the preparation of regulations and procedures manuals established by ANAC.
The Agency’s participation in the DGP discussions emphasizes the importance of Brazil’s presence in international regulations and the increasing improvement of operational safety in civil aviation on a local and global scale.
