ANAC celebrates 17 years of operation
It all started in 2005, when we were established as one of Brazil’s regulatory agencies. We were created to regulate and supervise civil aviation activities and the country’s aeronautical and airport infrastructure. In 2006, we began operating, replacing the Department of Civil Aviation (DAC), and following the premises of our law of establishment, Law No. 11,182, with the mission to ensure the safety and excellence of civil aviation for all Brazilians. Today, we are completing 17 years of activities in favor of an increasingly safe, robust, innovative, and efficient civil aviation.
In these 17 years:
- we registered more than 15 thousand aircraft;
- we issued more than 98,000 licenses;
- we certified 296 schools and instruction centers;
- we have certified and inspected 500 Brazilian and foreign airlines, and much more.
We operate in an industry that develops at a fast pace and is increasingly globalized. Thus, our performance has been gaining more and more space in the international environment. We are a reference in safety, equipment certification, and leaders in building a sustainable future. We are working hard to build an environment for universal civil aviation that combines technological innovation and efficiency.

The Agency celebrates its anniversary with an event for its employees
To celebrate the date, on March 20 the Agency gathered its employees and collaborators in a hybrid event held in Brasilia. The event was attended by the five directors and by the Agency’s employees and collaborators.
During the celebration, internal and external projects that have stood out over the years were presented. In addition, plans and internal expectations for the future were addressed, with a series of strategic initiatives to adjust processes, services, and physical and technological infrastructure.
