The National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) signed on October 17 a letter of intent for certification of electric vertical take-off and landing vehicles (eVTOL). The agreement was signed during the Certification Management Team (CMT) 2023 meeting set in São Paulo (SP).
There is an expectation that eVTOLs will become a reality in the coming years, which is why ANAC is already studying regulations for certification of these aerial vehicles. The agreement signed between ANAC and FAA formalizes the intention of joint action between civil aviation authorities to build eVTOL certification, share experiences and work collaboratively.
The aerial vehicles could bring improvements in air transport over small and medium distances, greater integration with cities, lower noise levels (compared to helicopters) and alignment with sustainable practices, including zero pollutant emissions. The document came into force on the date of its signature.
