ANAC and EASA simplify maintenance organization certification
After negotiations between the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), Brazil and the European Union have simplified procedures for the approval of maintenance organizations, eliminating redundancies in the certification and surveillance stages, as of March 13, 2023. The Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the European Commission (DG MOVE) were involved in the process of approving the changes.
The Agreement on Civil Aviation Safety (ACAS) has had its Annex B, as well as the implementation procedure Maintenance Annex Guidance (MAG) revised. Adjustments were made in the MAG to clarify topics such as the certification process, supervision, standardization audits (SIS) performed by ANAC and EASA, training, and workshop with inspectors. The revised Annex B and MAG are available at ANAC’s website, at: https://sistemas.anac.gov.br/certificacao/Acordos/AcordosPais.asp?PaisCodi=0096 .
Maintenance organizations located in Brazil and already approved according to the Agreement/MAG should evaluate the need for adaptation to their EASA Addendum. Revisions to the addendum must be made within 90 days after publication of the MAG. New approvals under the BASA/MAG must be made considering the revised documents.
