International agreements and articulations mark ANAC’s first week at the ICAO Assembly
ANAC’s participation in the first week of the 41st Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has already brought fruitful results for Brazilian aviation, including participation in meetings of high interest to the sector and the signing and renewal of international agreements.
On September 27, the first day of the Assembly, meetings were held with Spain and China. ANAC and the Spanish State Air Safety Agency signed an agreement for the recognition of aviation security (AVSEC) between the two States, with the objective of exempting the inspection of passengers and luggage in connection processes at Brazilian airports. With China, technical cooperation opportunities were discussed between ANAC and the Civil Aviation Administration of China.
On Wednesday, September 28, meetings with the United States Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) marked the Agency’s agenda. At the meeting with the TSA, they discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between ANAC and TSA on issues related to aviation security (AVSEC); at the meeting with EASA, they addressed issues such as urban air mobility, certification of aeronautical products, vertical airports and cybersecurity.
The events of September 29 involved bilateral meetings with Saudi Arabia and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States, as well as the signing of the renewal of the technical cooperation agreement with France. The agreement extends for four years the cooperation between ANAC and France's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DAAG) for cooperative activities between the two authorities, mainly related to infrastructure, operational safety, AVSEC, airworthiness, environment and training issues.
Also on the same day, ANAC and the Civil Aviation Authority of Mexico (AFAC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding for technical cooperation between the two entities for the development of civil aviation safety in Brazil and Mexico in the areas of product certification, airworthiness, aircraft maintenance, flight simulators and civil aviation personnel. The Memorandum of Understanding can be accessed at the Agency’s website.
