ANAC expands cooperation actions with other civil aviation authorities
Aligned directly with the International Civil Aviation Organization’s No Country Left Behind initiative, the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) has increasingly strengthened its relationship with other civil aviation authorities, especially those that participate in the Community of Lusophone Aviation Authorities (CAACL). The main objective is to foster cooperation by sharing knowledge and best practices for the development of civil aviation in these countries.
The common language facilitates cooperation actions. An example of this is the translation into Portuguese of the Annexes to the ICAO Chicago Convention and respective amendments, which is being done by Brazil and Portugal. This provides a better understanding of these documents, which govern civil aviation worldwide. Another initiative of the Agency is the availability of vacancies in online and in-person courses managed by the internationally recognized ANAC Training Center.
Among the actions developed, recently, the Agency held the webinar “Institutional Development of ANAC/Brazil” for professionals who are members of the CAACL. The event aimed to share experiences and best practices especially related to planning models, management, regulatory quality and methodologies for development and institutional strengthening of regulatory bodies.
The opening of the webinar was held by ANAC’s director-president, Juliano Noman, who stressed the importance of friendly and cooperative relations among Portuguese-speaking countries. The event was attended by professionals from the civil aviation authorities of Angola, Cape Verde, Mozambique and Portugal.
Expanding International Operations
ANAC's next step to expand cooperation with other countries should be taken on October 4th, during the ICAO 41st Assembly, with the signing of a letter of intent to partner with the Comprehensive Regional Implementation Plan for Aviation Safety in Africa (AFI Plan) and the African Aviation Facilitation and Safety Plan (AFI SECFAL Plan).
The two plans were built within the ICAO framework for cooperation with African countries in actions aimed at operational safety and aviation facilitation in these countries.
