ANAC and the Dutch Embassy join forces to discuss sustainability in civil aviation
The Embassy of the Netherlands in Brazil held on April 14, in partnership with the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), the event Innovative and Sustainable Airport Management: Brazilian and Dutch Perspectives . Throughout the presentations, best practices in sustainability issues at airports and new technologies and innovation in the industry were discussed.
The event was attended by directors Tiago Sousa, Ricardo Catanant and Luiz Ricardo Nascimento; the head of the International Advisory, Marcela Anselmi; the head of Department of Airworthiness, Roberto Honorato; and the head of Department of Airport Infrastructure, Tarik Souza. Also present were representatives from the Aeronautical Command Organization (COMAER) – Air Navigation Management Center (CGNA).
The speakers approached more efficient and sustainable technological solutions, such as drones and electric vertical landing and take-off aircraft (eVTOL), as well as biofuels. The meeting is available on ANAC's official YouTube channel (click on the link to access).
ANAC director Tiago Sousa reinforced the role of Brazil's civil aviation authority played by ANAC as an international reference in terms of certification of aeronautical products, in addition to being responsible for establishing regulations on safety and facilitation of air transport, aligned with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
"We are aware of the latest innovations in our industry. We are one of the first authorities in the world to issue a standard on Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) and to start the certification process for eVTOLs. Our work places Brazil as one of the most important contributors to the highest level of international aviation safety in the world. This is our priority and always has been", highlighted director Tiago.
ANAC director Luiz Ricardo Nascimento emphasized the regulatory aspect of new technologies. For him, the search is not only about the financial aspect and opportunities, but also about regulation. And there are challenges ahead, and cooperation is necessary.
“We are committed to sustainability in our industry and cooperation is the only way to develop, as quickly as possible, new technologies, new alternatives to continue producing in our industry,” said the secretary of civil aviation of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Ronei Glanzmann.
