ANAC and FAA discuss safety culture and regulatory developments in aviation
Collaborative action, safety culture in aviation, modernization and simplification of regulations for small aircraft, and technological advances were the main topics at a bilateral meeting between the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) and the Federal Aviation Administration, on June 7.
In an agenda in Sao Paulo (SP), during the 11th ALTA Pan American Aviation Safety Summit, held by the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA), directors Juliano Noman, Luiz Ricardo Nascimento and Rogério Benevides met with the administrator of the U.S. regulatory agency, Billy Nolen, among other FAA representatives, to address issues that cut across the regulatory environment of both agencies. The Superintendents of Airworthiness, José Honorato, and of Operational Standards, João Garcia, were also present at the meeting.
At the meeting, the safety culture was debated. “The safety culture must go through more efficient and agile processes without losing safety, while we count on technological advances that provide this. Voo Simples Program and Responsive Regulation are examples of ANAC’s agendas that contribute to this construction,” said Noman, ANAC’s director-president.
For Billy Nolen, FAA administrator, working in a collaborative way is fundamental to the continuous process of improving regulation of the airline industry worldwide. “I’m a big believer in global collaboration, especially for aviation. The partnership and exchange of experiences, whether on developments or regulatory challenges, is essential and contributes to a collaborative environment for the global development of the airline industry, always putting safety first,” he explained.
