AVIATION MARKET
October air market indicators show industry advancement
Air transport market indicators continue to show a gradual recovery in the industry. The Demand and Supply data for October 2021, released on November 22 by the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), point to a smaller retraction when compared to pre-pandemic indexes.
In October, the retraction in demand (in RPK) and supply (in ASK) in the domestic market was 16.4% and 16.7% respectively, when compared to the same month of 2019. In total, 6.3 million passengers were boarded, about 73% of total boardings in October 2019.
International Market
Even though international market indicators remain further away from pre-pandemic levels, the October indices indicate a reduction in the downturn in tracking. Passenger demand was 67.4% lower than that recorded in 2019. Supply, on the other hand, was down 60.6% compared to the same period. On the other hand, cargo transport maintained the growth rate, totaling an increase of 23.7%.
The comparison of the indicators presented with the same period of 2019 has been carried out in this way, considering that two years ago, aviation was not under the impact of the pandemic caused by Covid-19, which has affected air transport for at least 19 months.
The indicators presented, as well as the history of the base, are available for consultation on the Demand and Supply Reports page (available only in Portuguese).
